Philippine Airlines (PAL) has selected IBS Software’s cloud-based iCargo platform to replace its current cargo system.
The implementation will extend iCargo across PAL’s domestic and international cargo operations. IBS Software will support the airline’s modernisation programme with capabilities intended to cover its full range of business functions.
iCargo will handle cargo movements in both domestic and international operations, including international requirements such as customs reporting, duties and taxes settlement and regulatory compliance. The platform already supports carriers with this combination of demands, providing flexibility, scale and capabilities to manage both, according to the company.
The transition is expected to help PAL address key operational requirements in cargo, including system performance and data analytics. iCargo is intended to provide modern capabilities for faster shipment processing, greater reliability and end-to-end shipment visibility, while reducing manual intervention and enabling more efficient processes.
Jason Siy, vice president for cargo business at Philippine Airlines, described the initiative as an important step in modernising the airline’s cargo business. He said PAL needs a system that increases visibility, improves operational efficiency and supports a better customer experience as it grows across its domestic and international network.
Siy added that PAL sees iCargo as a key enabler of its long-term cargo transformation strategy and its ambition to build a stronger cargo business.
The announcement did not provide a timetable, contract value or further details on how the transition will be staged.
